XSOUL XM8 Predator Gaming Mouse Review
Thoughts and Conclusion
Not all of us can afford the big daddy, hundred dollar plus gaming mouse, I certainly know I couldn’t when I first started gaming. So the emergence of these more affordable mice is definitely a sight for sore eyes. As stated before about XSoul products being available at the time of review only through an Amazon store, that many of the products were heavily discounted, the XM8 for example was discounted from $59.99 down to $12.99. The pricing of $12.99 is certainly an eye catcher, especially when you compare its features to mice in the fifty dollar plus price range, but also take into consideration that the actual MSRP is $59.99. At the actual MSRP price, the XM8 has to compete with mice that are much sturdier and offer many of the same features.
While the software that came with the mouse functioned very well, the mouse itself priced at $59.99, felt under quality, compared to mice in the same price range. I was quickly able to navigate and understand the XM8 software and make changes as needed to suite my play style. If I had any complaints about the software it would be a recommendation to add an animation that shows what the effects for the mouses colors mean. This is not a big deal, I was able to fully understand the settings and got my profile set in around ten minutes. My bigger issue however is with the quality of the mouse itself. I would have liked to see a complete coating of paint or even a black plastic used for the molds over the white, unpainted surfaces found throughout the assembly of the XM8. The faux chrome pieces also leave me worried, as oils in our skin can break down the finish leaving chips and the plastic underneath exposed.
Overall, the XM8 was an enjoyable mouse to use, most of my concerns with the mouse are based on durability over time, verses the MSRP pricing compared to other mice in the same pricing bracket. The XM8 certainly does In the end I have to break this down as a toss up, if you are able to get the XM8 for sub thirty dollars, I highly recommend the mouse, but at its MSRP pricing, other mice in the same price range would be a better choice based purely on durability of materials over time. Taking all of this into consideration, and weighing the pros over the cons, the XM8 Predator from XSoul gets the Modders Inc, Recommended Award.
