Western Digital WD Black² 2.5-inch Dual Drive (SSD + HDD)
I researched and gathered multiple reputable benchmark data points and averaged them for these overall numbers showing the Black 2 HDD twin-platter 5,400rpm 1TB hard disk writes large files at 87MB/s and reads at 110MB/s. Small files are written at a slower 29.2MB/s, but read quickly at 60.9MB/s. The Black2’s SSD controller is a JMF667H JMicron and has a 20nm NAND flash. We’re not talking the highest speed SSD on the market writing large files at 170MB/s and reading them at 336MB/s. Small files were written at 110MB/s and read at 89MB/s. But these are others and I want to know real world improvements for a old laptop so we’ll take our own and find out what benchmark improvements we realize first hand.
The WD Black2 Quick Install Guide might be 92 pages but there is only four pages per language needed to guide the set-up and install. 23 languages are covered. There is a Support and Contact page, Kit Contents page, New OS Installation guide and Clone Existing HDD guide.
20 days now since I did this upgrade to the wifes old laptop.
Every night she sits down, hits the power button, I look at her, she at me and I get the sweetest smile.
As a client she’s very happy with the improvements. ALL of the complaints have stopped and replaced with :)
