2nd place – Antec Air: The challenge of working in an open air case, is that you have no place to hide anything. But the fun part of an air case, is you can do things that nobody else can do. And that is *precisely* what DOHCDragon did with this build! With the fact that this case is effectively an open air frame, with mesh panels to enclose the case… you have options. And what was so very unique with this case was the sound activated LED lighting effect in this build. It was lit through out with RGB surface mount LED strips, fans included. And all strips were controlled from a single controller so that the color was consistent and even.

The case flexed and popped its illuminary prowess to music or to any external music source. With the white framework adding a pure reflective surface to jettison the lighting effects with. There were also side panel etching commemorating Quakecon 2012 embedded below the mesh work. The active lighting component, the installation cleanness, the synchronized lighting control, and the overall impression of the case placed it 2nd in the field.
