Synology RT2600ac WiFi Router Review: A New Market Player
PCB and Chips
Internal PCB of RT2600AC is securely attached to the plastic frame. The first thing that jumps out is massive heat sink that is installed around the PCB board. This heat sink is designed to passively cool both 2.5GHz and 5GHz Radios alongside with Qualcomm network processor.
2.4GHz, 5GHz and CPU are covered with heat shield that physically come in contact with PCB heat sink. Overall PCB is well put together however, I did found some areas where visible residue of flux was shown.
RT2600AC PCB Analysis.
RT2600ac has 4 GB flash ram by Kingston (Emmc04g-m627). Switching controller is by Merrill Integrated Electronics (Qca8337-al3c). QCA8337 supports up to seven port Gigabit Ethernet switching. Some advanced features of this chip is fail over and load balancing of Ethernet connection.
RT2600ac noise reduction magnetic modules are by Bothhand USA (G2PM109RN). These two modules are 1000 Base T. CPU of RT2600ac is by Qualcomm (Ipq8065). This is a dual core processor that has maximum clock speed of 1.7 GHz and supports advanced WiFi Security such as AES-CCMP and AES-GCMP.
To support CPU functions RT2600ac is equipped with two 2GB Samsung RAM modules (K4b2G16). Both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Radios are by Qualcomm (Qca9984). Power amplification is done by Skyworks (SE2623L) and RFMD (PA5542) for 2.5GHz and 5Ghz respectively.
