Synology Disk Station DS107+

Conclusion |
Overall the Synology DS107+ has been a pleasure to work with. Everything is easily configurable and the web interface is just as easy to navigate. The DS107+ offers many great features that can make your daily backup and file transfer needs easier than dragging flash drive or hard drive enclosure around with you. You can easily setup a web blog or forums system that will allow you to host up to date information for your local club(s). Having a FTP setup built in will allow you to easily share files between locations or users all without the hassle of building a separate server to do the tasks. That was the main option I liked about my situation. I was easily able to setup everything I normally do on my server on the NAS and do away with the large system, keyboard, monitor, and mouse. Plus the added advantage of the NAS using considerably less power than the full tower system. The Synology DS107+ comes in at just over $300 US and might not be ideal for everyone. It will give you more options than a standard USB/e-SATA hard drive enclosure, while also offer a few benefits over a file server.
