SilverStone PM01 Gaming PC Case Review

Hardware Installation and Clearance Issues

While installing the components I have discovered that the distance between motherboard tray and window facing panel is around 170mm, so I had to think carefully on which cooler to use. I have mounted a rear facing Nepton 120xl without any issues. Snaking power GPU power was a little bit of a challenge. With Silent Pro 1200, GPU cables are non-modular so it was challenging to snake two power cable trough the covering shroud.

Cable management in this case is fair and I would suggest the use modular PSU cables and perhaps flat cables. To aid with cable management SilverStone included three Velcro ties to keep most of the cabling in place. There are some cable tie loops that can be utilized to make the case look cleaner. To pass through cables from the back of the case, the PM01 has three cable management holes that have rubber grommets to prevent wire chafing.

In this build I am using two r9 290 video cards and they are close to 280mm in length. If you are planning to use liquid reservoir then you should keep in mind the length of your GPU cards as the PM 01 will support GPU cards in length up to 425mm.

When you power on the case the front facing fans start to spin and inner LED strips start to glow. There are four modes that could be picked from; full brightness, half brightness, breathing pattern, and off. The fans run at lower RPM speeds (800) so there isn’t much noise that is coming from the case.
