SilverStone Kublai KL05-W Case Review
Conclusion and Final Thoughts
For a sub-$100 the SilverStone Kublai hits the nail on the head. This case offers multiple mounts for radiators for those of you that wish to use watercooling and multiple fan locations for those that choose air cooling. I liked the fact that I could mount the radiator on the inside of the case and the fans on the outside and still have the fans concealed beneath a ventilated housing is a good move. It allows for more working room on the inside of the case.
The inclusion of only one case fan however, I find quite disturbing. Even though this case is under $100.00, I would expect to see at least one intake on the front and one exhaust on the rear. With that said, adding fans is extremely easy. I found no issues while installing either case fans or mounting up radiators.
I like the simple design of the SilverStone Kublai. From an aesthetic stand point the case looks unassuming and would fit well in both a home and office environment, the office environment even more so with the non-windowed version. From a modding stand point, I get less of the manufacture’s features that I have to change or remove. Internally, with the drive cages removed, there is quite a bit of space to mount reservoirs and pumps. With only 5/8 of an inch of clearance between the motherboard tray and the side panel, hiding soft tubing between them maybe a bit of a challenge. The side panels are a little thin and may bow outward if cable management presses too much on the side of the case.
The SilverStone Kublai is a solid and well built case that I feel does find a nice balance of features and price. At the time of this writing, the SilverStone Kublai KL05 retails for $74.99 USD on amazon. The Kublai is a mostly tool free installation depending on the hardware you choose to install. From start to finish the installation went smooth and I didn’t run into any issues and everything went smoothly. The SilverStone Kublai includes features of much more expensive cases at a price that is easier to swallow which earns this case the Modders-Inc Must Have Award.
