Rosewill Apollo RK-9100xRBR Illuminated Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Final Thoughts

Usually when a keyboard comes through and it doesn’t have any flashy extra buttons or insane programming software, it really grabs my attention. I suppose you could say I’m more enticed by the clean, minimalist style. The Apollo from Rosewill definitely has the minimalist design, and as such it’s become my daily keyboard. The soft rubber texture that covers the entire body of the keyboard as well as the wrist rest has definitely prevented the keyboard from getting scratched, as I’m constantly shifting parts around on my desk.

Rosewill-RK-9100x-switchThe Cherry MX Brown key switch has always been one of my favorites, as it has a tactile feel to it without the loud audible clicking every time you depress a key. The red LED backlighting is a nice touch, though it’s not something that has to be included. It is nice that Rosewill has included a few brightness options, and the breathing mode looks pretty cool when there’s no other lights on in the room. Having USB as well as headphone and microphone pass through support is a welcome feature, that many people will take advantage of. However, being just USB 2.0, I’d prefer to use my front panel USB 3.0 ports on my case if I’m going to be transferring any sort of data to or from a flash drive.

Honestly, the only negative thing I have to say about the Rosewill Apollo is that it’s priced pretty high. With a price tag of $149.99 USD at the time of this review, I would have expected there to be a few more features included. With that said, if you don’t mind spending the money on a keyboard which doesn’t give you a million and a half macro options, I would strongly recommend you consider the Rosewill Apollo mechanical gaming keyboard.
