Roccat Ryos MK Pro Mechanical Keyboard Review

« First Look | About the switches »

Roccat Ryos MK Pro Mechanical KeyboardAfter totally unwrapping the keyboard we finally get a good look at this beast. The keyboard is a little on the large side and the size can be attributed to the integrated wrist rest. There are a lot of mechanical keyboards that eliminate the 10-key keypad. I cannot tell you how many times in a day that I use the 10-key, so having it on the Roccat Ryos MK Pro is a major plus in my book. There are five “M” keys that run along the left hand side of the keyboard. The M keys are macro keys and can be used with a pre-recorded macro or with a combination of the Fn & F12 keys a live macro can be recorded.

DSC_2822The Ryos MK Pro has a feature called Easy-Shift+. The Easy-Shift+ is activated by using the Caps Lock key in combination with the Fn key to add a second in game command to virtually every key on the keyboard.

DSC_2824The “T” or Thumbster keys are located just below the space bar. They can be programmed as additional keys or Macros can be recorded on them. With the Ryos MK Pro any key can essentially be programmed as a macro key.

DSC_2825The upper left corner of the Ryos MK Pro contains the audio I/O. A headset and microphone port are available.

Roccat Ryos MK Pro Mechanical Keyboard USB PortsThe Ryos MK Pro features an integrated USB hub. Two ports are available on the upper right corner.

DSC_2832The keyboard also has stands that fold out from the bottom to elevate the back of the keyboard about an inch. Thick rubber pads glued to the bottom keep the Ryos from sliding around on the desk during frenzied gaming sessions.

Roccat Ryos MK Pro Mechanical Keyboard Cable ConnectionsFour connectors are located at the end of the cable for the Ryos MK Pro. There are two USB and two audio jacks. I am assuming that Roccat decided to use two USB connections to eliminate the need for an additional power adapter. Using one USB cable to run the keyboard, lights, and USB hub maybe a little too much power draw for one single cable.

DSC_2830The cable itself is thick and has a braided sleeve from end to end. The overall cable length is just over 6 feet. An adjustable velcro strap is included to help tidy things up.
