RAIJINTEK Asterion Classic Aluminum Chassis

« A Closer Look at the Raijintek Asterion Classic Aluminum Chassis | Final Thoughts »

Building out the Raijintek Asterion Classic Aluminum chassis is pretty straight forward.  The motherboard standoffs are already installed for a standard ATX motherboard.  There are extra standoffs included in the kit for larger motherboards.  As you can see my standard ATX motherboard is dwarfed inside this cavernous case.

Here is a SSD with the mount screws for the keyhole mounts in the Asterion Classic.  With these screws attached, the SSD can be mounted in several different locations.  These screws are just a little over finger tight and are rubber mounted.  Makes installing your SSD/HDD quick and easy.

And here is the finished product.  Notice that I brought my 4 pin motherboard cable over the top and all the other cables that attach to the motherboard through the slots on the bottom.  The two power cables for my video card were brought through one of the grommet pass-through.  The other grommet pass-through was used to pass the power and data cable for my SSD and the power for the two front fans was also fed through here.  My SSD is mounted to the keyholes just above that lower pass-through.  The depth of the Raijintek Asterion Classic can accommodate up to a 180mm CPU cooler if desired.  Unfortunately the 24-pin power cable has to come from underneath and over the video card.  It would be nice if mother board manufactures would put that connector in a position that makes more sense for cable runs.

The back side view shows a clean and compact routing of the cables.  There is enough space on the Raijintek Asterion Classic Aluminum chassis to allow extra cable to be stored behind the PSU and the spare drive area if you don’t need it.

Finally two pictures of the completed build powered up.  A bit underwhelming I know.  But imagine the possibilities!
