QNAP Qfinder Pro 6.5.0
This section of the review describes QNAP Qfinder Pro 6.5.0 and its use in configuring your NAS.
When you download QNAP Qfinder Pro and install it you will be displayed with a simple IP scanner which will automatically scan your network to look for a new NAS device.
It takes just a few seconds for QNAP Qfinder Pro to find all of the QNAP devices on the network. Once a new device has been found the application will ask you if you would like to start a guided installation guide.
Once you start the guided installation your browser will launch and QNAP installation will begin. Note the IP address which was leased to your NAS. You need to have DHCP on your network to start the installation.
While in guided installation you can have your device to reach out to the QNAP firmware servers to pull down latest firmware for your device. If you do not wish to have the latest version of QTS you can choose Manual installation and upload and install the firmware manually.
Download and installation takes roughly 10 minutes. I strongly advise not to unplug your NAS while the firmware is being installed. Corruption of the firmware files could occur and you could brick your NAS.
Once download and installation completes, your NAS will restart. Note the IP address in the browser. This will be needed to continue customizing and finishing the setup of your new NAS.
The design looks already old to me. But a 3 bay is a nice alternative for those who need space, specially with the new 14 TO Ironwolf.
