Patriot Viper V760 Keyboard Review
A Closer Look at the Patriot Viper V760 Keyboard
The Patriot Viper V760 measures 20.3 x 46.6 x 7.2 cm and has a 100% ANSI 104-key layout. The body has an anodized aluminum cover plate while the rest of the body and keys are black.
The included wrist-rest accessory attaches via magnets at the bottom and extends the full length of the Viper V760 keyboard.
On the backside, rubber feet hold the V760 in place on a desk and users can raise the height with risers on each side that fold out.
The Viper V760 uses Kailh brown switches which are the “silent” variant of the tactile Kailh mechanical switches. These mechanical switches uses a standard Cherry MX mount with the LED mounted at the top so other replacement keycaps can be used as well.
The Viper V760 connects using USB and comes with two cables. The orange one is for actual keyboard function while the green one allows for USB 2.0 pass-through at the back of the keyboard for USB drives or other peripherals. This cord is braided and hardwired at the top of the keyboard.
Secondary functions are accessed via the Viper key (in place of the right Windows key on the ANSI layout) and not only offer lighting control but multimedia control and profile switching as well. Since the LED is positioned at the top of the switch, Patriot made sure that most of the key legends are situated on the top of the keycap as well for optimal light bleed-through. The aluminum plate also serves to help increase the illuminuation further by reflecting the light that is coming out from the back of the keycap as the switches are mounted on the plate with the base exposed. Full NKRO via USB function is enabled for Windows users via multiple HID devices.
