Patriot Viper V570 RBG Laser Gaming Mouse Review: Red, Green and Blue

Final Thoughts

My experience with the Patriot Viper V570 was a short however I am overly pleased with the performance of this gaming mouse. What made an impression on me is the RGB lighting and highly customizable interface for the buttons. I don’t play RPG games anymore (lack of time) however, I did managed to squeeze a few sessions of Elite Dangerous. This is a game with numerous commands and having multiple profiles and customizable buttons greatly helped me in combat. The comfort level of V570 is at about 8 out of 10. I did not experience fatigue however, I felt that my hand was a little bit small for this mouse. Generally what I look in a mouse is ergonomic design that relaxes the hand unfortunately I had hard time keeping my hand relaxed. One thing I found is that without any additional weight this mouse flies across the mouse pad. Ceramic footing does wonderful job keeping the whole unit stable and very easy to move. I would strongly recommend using cloth based mouse pads and staying away from hard material mouse pads as the ceramic footing will get scratched over time and you will lose that fluid movement.

Laser tracking is done by Avago 9800 sensor. This precise laser provides ability to set DPI levels as high as 12000. More and more gamers use 12000 DPI settings with First Person Shooting games and this is definitely a big plus for V570. Another big plus is the “Sniper” button that adjusts DPI level on the fly for that sniping function while held. Default setting is set to 400 DPI however, this just like every other button on this mouse could be customized.

Software does not come with the mouse but it could be downloaded from the website. I found no issues with use of the software as I have tested some of the advanced macros and configurations with buttons. Some of the advanced features are found in software such as Angle Snapping and Adjust Lift really give this mouse a competitive edge. The ability to customize RGB functions of the mouse really makes this mouse and definitely turns heads. I have left the mouse at work and I have heard nothing but compliments from co-workers.

Currently the Patriot Viper V570 sells for about 60$ USD and judging by the internal components and features it has to offer I would definitely say that the value vs price is more than fair. You get what you pay for and this mouse is worth it.
