Editor’s Note: Patriot has released an update to the firmware/software the the Viper V560 on February 8, 2016 that further adds features and improves upon many of the options seen here. For details: http://www.modders-inc.com/patriot-upgrades-viper-v560-mouse-software/

Installing Patriot’s accompanying software for the Viper V560 mouse allows access to the mouse’s macro-making functionality and fine tuning settings, which is where the mouse really starts to shine.

Each profile can has its own collection of settings. Above I’m working in Profile 2, which can be renamed to something with a maximum of 8 characters. The first (and most complex) tab allows you to define how the mouse’s buttons work. After selecting a specific button to adjust (in this case the Adjust lift off button), you can assign the button to a new mouse function, keyboard function, advanced function,  or macro. You can also adjust how each key cycle functions.

You can also assign the button to its own macro, shown below. Each macro can be given a 15 character name, and is capable of emulating keystrokes, mouse button inputs, and inserting delays. Making macros is straightforward, and can either be assembled line by line, or use live recorded keystrokes. The delays are capped in length of about a minute, and there’s a little over 7000 bytes of onboard memory. At two bytes per macro line, there’s a generous amount of space for macro content. Macros can also be imported exported via .mf file format.

The sensor and settings tab allow fine tuning of other features, shown below. The sensor speeds range from barely moving to super-speed, and x-y axis settings can be independent. Each preset (1,2,3, and 4, cycled through with the red button accessible by the left thumb) is originally set in ascending sensitivity, but you can make each one as different and unique as you want. All settings are also savable to a .bf file.
