The Test Rig:
Intel Q6600 @ 3.15GHz To test the OCZ Rally2 Turbo, I will run a few benches on it using DiskBench, HDTach, and HDTune. I will be comparing the Rally2 Turbo against a Filemate 2GB drive.
For testing on DiskBench, I simply copied my 3DMark05 Installer file from one location to the other and back. The 3DMark05 installer is 283MB in size. The top left picture shows me copying the file from my Desktop to the Filemate, which an average of 12.633 MB/s. In the second picture we copied the file from the Filemate back to the Desktop giving us an average of 23.775 MB/s, which was considerably faster. On the OCZ Rally2 Turbo, we achieved an average of 26.216 MB/s going and 28.704 MB/s coming back.
On HDTach we see the Filemate averaging a burst speed of 24.4 MB/s with an average read of 23.8 MB/s while having a random access time of 1.3 ms. The OCZ Rally2 Turbo shows a burst speed of 33.9 MB/s with an average read of 32.6 MB/s while having a random access time of 0.7 ms.
With HDTune, we see similar results as we did with Disk Bench. The Filemate pulled a burst speed of 13.3 MB/s with an average read speed of 22.6 MB/s and improved on the access time with 0.9 ms. The Rally2 Turbo still managed to pulling faster numbers showing a burst speed of 27.4 MB/s with an average read speed of 31.3 MB/s while achieving an access time of 0.7 ms.
