IN WIN GRone Full Tower Computer Case
Exterior Impressions Part 2:
As you saw in the last image on the previous page, behind the front I/O panel there is an indention sloping back into the top panel contains small rectangle shaped object. Most of you, I am rather certain, can identify what is under this black rubber cover. However, for those who do not recognize it, as you see in this image when I lift the black rubber cover it reveals a SATA HDD EZ-Swap port.
It is always a convenience to me to have a hotswap port available just in case I need to pull info from another HDD quickly. Though I am only showing a 3.5″ HDD connected here, both 3.5” and 2.5” HDDs will fit. I would also imagine you would have no problems connecting a 2.5″ SSD if you needed to.
While we are on the top panel, I’d like to point out that IN WIN has really done a great job providing areas for your systems hot air to exhaust out from the top panel. You have mesh on both sides running the length of the top panel, as well as the top louvered area for exhaust also. And, you can add up to three 120mm to 140mm fans in the chassis top.
Moving from the top of the GRone to the bottom of the case, we can see that IN WIN has continued on with even more ventilation. Or in this case cool air intake areas. Starting with the back we see the PSU area is opened for air intake and includes a cleanable filter for dust prohibiting. As we move further toward the front, you can see I have removed the filter to show the air intake area where you can install up to two 120mm or 140mm fans for cool air intake. You ca, as with the top, also add water cooling radiators here, up to 240mm long here and up to 360mm long up top.
The case feet are a hard black plastic and while they do the job, I think some rubber padding would be very useful here.
Finally we make our way to the rear of the IN WIN GRone. It is of course painted metallic Gray, just as the rest of the case is. We will discuss the rear of the case in the sections below.
Starting at the top, we find four grommeted water cooling holes for those who might be using water cooling. Of course you can also use them as cable holes if needed.
Next we have the standard I/O shield cutout for your motherboard.
To the right of the I/O cutout we have a pre-installed 140mm black fan (non-LED). However, this fan like every other fan location can utilize both 120mm and 140mm fans, so if you prefer 120mm fans all you have to do is switch them out.
The IN WIN GRone has eight expansions slots for your various pci-e or pci cards. It is designed to accommodate up to an E-ATX motherboard. Tri-Sli anyone?
Running along the side of the expansions slots the case has a good amount of ventilation also. I like seeing manufacturers add plenty of ventilation.
At the bottom of the rear panel of the case, we find the PSU bay. Bottom PSU bays are becoming increasingly more popular due to the weight of some of today’s monster PSUs, not to mention the fact that the wiring / cable management is a tad easier to deal with as well.
