Gigabyte WaterForce 3 Way SLI Review: A Force to Reckoned With
Benchmarks and Overclocking
[sc:graphic_card_testingLet’s break this down and see what we come up with. Everyone is making a run towards the water cooling solutions for the PC. It used to be something that only the brave would do because who would put water in their PC’s. It took a few years for a reliable commercial unit to hit the market and once that was achieved it has been a race. This has paved the way for the Gigabyte WaterForce and made it a reality. Creating a multiple video card water cooling set up is more that doable, if you want to spend the time and money to make it happen. The Gigabyte WaterForce makes it simple to with extras, but at a price. As they say “you get what you pay for”. If you want quality and something that works without issues you have to pay for.
I will admit that I did have thoughts of “do I really want this on the top of case?” If you have a black case, which I am guessing that 90% of you out there do, then don’t even think about. You saw that I placed it on my white Phanteks Luxe case and it actually looks really good. If worries you that much you could easily take it apart and paint it to match any case or theme. Being a modder one of the first things I thought about was incorporating the look into a case mod. The hose extending out of the water box an into the case reminded me of the Sentinel or the Machine City from the Matrix movies. I mean would that not be bad-ass or what.
I think that Gigabyte wanted to prove a point with the WaterForce. 3 Way SLI. First it was a proof of concept that a commercial all-in-one water cooling solution could work on the magnitude of a multiple card setup. Next that they wanted to makes sure that it easy to install and finally make it perform right out of the box. You can place a check mark next to each on of those accomplishments. Were there places that things could have been a bit better, sure but they had noting to do with the performance or lessened the value of the product. They were minor things such as the drive by cover for the hose routing did not meet my setup 100% or the hose clamps that were close to perfect. But you now what this can be expected on something like this were someone is trying to push the envelope. They reached the goals they set for themselves. I applaud them for taking a chance on the concept, design trying something new. I am just wondering what they will do to better than this setup and what the next revision will bring us.
