EKWB EK-XLC Predator 360 All-In-One CPU Liquid Cooling Unit Review
All in one water (AIO) cooling units are designed for consumers that want water cooling without the hassle of assembling a custom loop, filling, bleeding and maintenance. The AIO units offer a simple installation that is similar to an air cooler but, the cooling performance similar to a custom loop. In September 2015, EKWB launched their Predator line of AIO coolers and the 1st on the block was the 240. The EKWB Predator 360 made its debut in December of 2015. The 360 adds an additional 120mm of radiator space as well as another 120mm Vardar fan. There are two purchasing options as well; you can purchase the Predator 360 with or without the Quick Disconnect Connector (QDC) that allows you to add additional water blocks without draining the loop.
On the front of the box, there’s an image of the Predator 360 AIO with the QDC. At the bottom of the front cover, EK lists out the technologies they used in the unit such as, Hovercore, Vardar, Coolstream, etc. The back side lists out features that EK deems important; using an all copper waterblock, Vardar fans and being fully expandable are just a few.
On the edge of the package, EK details out what you’ll need to get the Predator 240 installed. They list out space requirement for mounting the radiator as well as the contents of the box.
Now I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t tell you there is a new revision of the Predator 360 out. The original version had an issue which I will go into a little later in the review. The information sticker on the bottom of the box shows the revision number where as the original packaging did not have a revision number.
After removing the outer cardboard, a molded plastic clam shell holds the EKWB Predator and its accessories in place during shipping.
Since there were changes in Revision 1.1, the installation kit has changed slightly as well. The newer revision no longer has the hold down screws attached to the water block.
