DXRacer King Series (OH/KX28/NB) PC Gaming Chair Review
Conclusion
The chair shown is what I have. It has been easy to use, easy to clean, reliable, adjusted and sat in for long periods of time. I state this as plainly as I can state this, “It is a GOOD chair. But not a GREAT chair.”
To take the title of “GREAT” chair, its comfort would have to knock my Aeron off of the pedestal, and it did not do that. While being more adjustable, more customizable, and having a higher backrest that allows me to rest my head (which, by the way, feels amazing as I have never had a chair with a backrest high enough for me to do that with!)… the seat foam needs work. You can train your legs if they fall in the same predicament that mine did. The arm rest articulation and adjustments, the back lumbar pillow and the neck pillow, the race seat back that extends up past the shoulders…. it all feels of quality. The inner construction is also rigid and well build. The steel tube frame chassis gives a confidence level that few chairs have been able to give me. I have broken chairs, sometimes simply by sitting, other times by leaning back and breaking the bottom tilt hinge. Other times by breaking the back rest where it attaches to the seat. I have not had any concerns with this chair. However, in the end, a chair is made for sitting. And the primary function of this chair required me to train myself on how to sit in it, instead of the chair conforming to me.
In the end, no matter how visually exhilarating or enticing a chair is, no matter how many bells and whistles it has, it still must be a “chair”. It needs to be comfortable, and it needs to be supportive. Premium chairs take it up a notch with adjust-ability and customization options, but the comfort had better be there. In my case, it required me to alter how I sit, in order to confirm to the chair…. which is not how it should be. Even though I have figured out how I can attain “long term comfort” in this chair, that feeling out period period and knowledge gathering may be too long for others in this fast paced world.
For as much as I love the aesthetic of this chair, the one glaring issue *for me* is the seat cushion issue. For persons with different shaped or length legs, this may not be as much of an issue. But for me, its an issue… and a distracting issue. Everything else about this chair is top notch, and I love it!
(Authors note: I would like to thank DXRacer for their supplying the chair used in this review, as well as their extraordinary patience while I tested it. I’ve seen many reviews that were based off of a couple days of use, maybe a week. This is a review that started back in October 2015… a 6 months review of usage and comfort. For this, I appreciate and applaud DXRacer’s patience and commitment to excellence by allowing this extended review.)
