DimasTech Mini V1 Test Bench Review: Purpose Driven
The DimasTech Mini v1.0 measures 340 x 370 mm with a height of 95mm bare and 120mm total with the rubber feet installed. This particular sample has an “Aurora Blue” color but DimasTech offers five more color options including: Graphite Black, Metallic Grey, Milk White, Sahara Yellow, and Spicy Red. The paint and finish is impeccable with a thick even glossy coat throughout. The bottom view reveals thumbscrews for the pre-installed optical and HDD drive bays. Extra pre-drilled holes also show at the bottom of the tray that these bays can be reconfigured and moved should the user want to later on. On the side edge overhang that is part of the top tray are four threaded mounting holes for the feet installation.
The front is where the drives are installed and also has front panel holes for the pushbutton installation as well as an optional USB port (sold separately). The drive bay units are not in Aurora Blue but are in Graphite black, similar to the expansion slot cover. Thumbscrews holding the front of the drive bay units are accessible here. From this vantage, the curved front edge of the tray is visible as well as the curved edges of the top body. This is done for style as well as function, eliminating sharp edges.
The left side view shows a slot for power supply mounting with the mounting holes situated so that most ATX power supplies will be installed with the fan facing up, which makes sense since there is no ventilation hole at the part of the tray matching the PSU area and there is a bit of gap behind the top panel for airflow to be drawn in. To the right of the power supply mounting area are pre-drilled sliding slots for quick-release mounting of drives of varying sizes. Two thumbscrews at the bottom edge secure the bottom tray to the main unit body.
The right side has an open area for passing cables through and accessing convenience for the PSU, CPU cooler backplate and drive connections. A “mini” logo is cutout on the center area of this access hole. The other two thumbscrews securing the bottom tray are found on this side.
The rear area is almost completely open for access as well with the same curved edge for the bottom tray but with a slightly different design at the top compared to the front that had a panel cutout.
The top area is where the magic happens. A square cutout for the CPU backplate installation is available as well as three cable routing areas at the front. A total of fifteen mounting holes are available for standoff installation, giving the DimasTech Mini v1.0 extensive motherboard size support from mini-ITX to XL-ATX sizes. The two slits at the rear are for mounting the expansion slot bracket and the two mounting holes flanking the cable routing holes are for securing the Flexfan rod attachment.
