Creative Sound BlasterX G5 Portable Sound Card Review
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
Overall, I had a great experience using the Sound BlasterX G5 portable sound card. The Sound Blaster G5 far exceeded my expectations. It worked great in all areas, movies, games, and music. I even found a unique use for the Sound Blaster G5 in my car. That is where is G5 now lives. It produces very loud, but clear sound. Bass is deep and has a good punch to it. However, it never got distorted to the point of being unlistenable. I love the plug and play aspect of the G5 as well as how small and portable it is. You can just throw it in your pocket and use it anywhere you have a wall outlet or USB port. This makes the Sound Blaster G5 perfect for those who travel, but don’t want to settle for the onboard audio on their laptop or mobile device. I would even recommend the Sound Blaster G5 over the AE-5. The AE-5 being Sound Blasters internal PCIe sound card of a similar price point. Both produce great sound, but the portability of the G5 puts it on top for me. Especially since at the time of this review, you can pick up the Sound BlasterX G5 portable sound card and headphone amp for only $99.99 on Amazon. Making the G5 $50 cheaper than its add-in counterpart. If you’re an audiophile, a hardcore gamer or just someone who appreciates good quality audio on your devices, the Sound Blaster G5 is a must have.
The volume knob on my G6 was not placed correctly, as it not level with the casing. I would like to remove it to place it again, better aligned. How did you remove the volume knob on the G5?
