A Closer Look- Controller, Connectors, and Cables

Next ,let’s move onto the subject of the controller and the connectors. Cooler Master was very smart about this and included a detachable in-line remote. This controls sound and microphone levels and detaches for easier storage and transportation.

On the controller itself you will see volume and mic mute options via the sliders. The unit is USB powered. Although I am a little disappointed that this isn’t wireless, some of the features like the stylish white illuminated ear cups and microphone seem to make up for it. The cable length is 3m so that should be more sufficient for your needs.

A Closer Look- Microphone

Next, let’s move onto the microphone. I really enjoy the way Cooler Master integrated the microphone into this headset. To continue on with the “easy travel” theme of this headset, Cooler Master included a detachable microphone arm with noise-cancelling mic system for clear in-game chats. When the microphone is attached it is very sturdy and there is no wobble at all. The microphone arm itself can bend into any position you want to obtain the best precision and comfort possible.  The voice quality is very clear. I could hear others and they said that they could hear me very clearly. Very impressed!!!

Sound Quality

As for sound quality, the Pulse-R is fitted with nice and big 42mm drivers. This is a 2.1 channel unit so that allows for bigger drivers because there is only one per ear. The frequency response is 20Hz – 20KHz. I am very happy with this feature because it means that these headphones can produce all frequencies that the human ear is cable of hearing. For people who don’t enjoy all that fancy lingo, let me just say that these headphones have very accurate sound reproduction. I was actually very impressed by that. Being a musician, I am very picky about my headphones.

  1. Hey Josh, thanks for the thorough review.

Man…if only these were wireless! I’m thinking of picking up a pair because the price to quality ratio looks good but I’m on the fence. Maybe when my Sennheisers give out!
