Cooler Master HAF Stacker 935 – A New Beginning For Computer Cases
Top Section – 915R
The top modular section is only 9 inches tall and is the same width of the case which is also 9 inches.
The rear of the case has the cut outs for a power supply and I/O (In/Out) ports for a mini-itx motherboard and a graphics card?
Like the larger section the side panels use two thumb to secure them into place. Unlike the lower section both side panels are open for full air flow. So why would you want this? Well the side panels have holes in them to allow you to mount water cooling radiators, cooling fans or other items.
Also included is a hard drive rack that will hold three drives and a single ROM drive. The same holders and locking mechanism is used here as well.
By removing just a few screws you can take the top off to get better access to the inside of the case.
A view from the right side of the case.
Here is great shot that give a detailed look at looking straight down at the modular section. The holes in the bottom plate are used to run cable, wires and other items down to into the lower section case.
Would not be awesome to be able to install say a mini-itx setup in the top section that could be used as well pretty much anything like a FreeNAS box, HTPC, a internet browser while the lower have is rendering video or 3D stuff or _____ (You fill in the blank)
Guess what, with the top off of the modular piece I thought I would see if it would fit on the larger case part… and it fit like it was made too! At this point I am thinking that Cooler Master has almost thought of every angle and possibility.
The smaller modular unit is available in two different types, the HAF 915R (shown in the review) and the HAF 915F. Both HAF 915 models share the same use as a storage box, MITX chassis or a radiator enclosure. HAF 915R has a rear power supply, that allows for support of up to 3 hard drive cages for 9 total hard drives. HAF 915F has a front mounted power supply which allows large air coolers like the Hyper 212 to be installed.
Let’s say we have a home server or HTPC in the 915R and same gaming configurafion in main unit.
I want to turn on only the upper part. Where is the turn on switch?!
Great question! From what I understand Cooler Master will adding kits to their store that you can get separate switches for the 915 sections or have were both systems can be turned on and off with one button.
So what do you think about this modular case idea? Do you like it?
This looks very cool!
I would love a stack of 4 915 (from top to bottom):
-Wife’s PC
-My PC
-Home Server
-Drive Case for the Server
It will be nice…
I believe I spotted an error:
“If you would like to purchase the lower section that has the power supply located in the front the HAF-915F-KKN1 has a MSRP of $69.99.”
Shouldn’t that be the upper section?
The 935 reviewed is the case and top section and is sold as one unit. The lower section is sold separately and it does have the power supply located in the front. If you buy the lower section you can now add it to the 935 for a three level PC or you can take the two smaller sections, put them together and make a smaller case. Or like you said you can buy a couple of the modular sections and stack them. I saw them online now for about $60 each.
Why do you assume the Cooler Master employee that came up with the idea is a “he”?
