CM Storm Ceres 500 Gaming Headset Review
Performance and Testing
As is common with many gaming headsets, there is an emphasis on bass and lower frequencies although do not expect a level of definition similar to audiophile headphones. There are no distortions on lower levels but it does slough off slightly. The highs are also limited but overall, this hardly affects gaming experience and is decent for multimedia use. In fact, compared to most mainstream headsets, it is noticeably superior and otherwise properly balanced for the task.
The microphone performance was also a lot better than expected, especially from a mainstream headset. A short demo audio below, recorded with Skype demonstrates the level of clarity that the Ceres 500 microphone provides. The entire Modders-Inc staff can also attest to the audio clarity as I used it in our last group meeting.
I cannot emphasize enough the brilliance of having separate volume and chat volume control as well as microphone mute on the remote. This gives gamers a remarkable control while gaming that would be otherwise impossible on other headsets.
