Final Thoughts about the Biostar Racing B350GT3 Motherboard

I have always had a fondness for Biostar motherboards because for a while, they were the only motherboards I could afford but at the same time, they did manage to provide the kind of feature-set I was looking for. Let’s be honest, it is actually harder to trust most other manufacturers when it comes to budget offerings than high-end motherboards. ASRock’s entry level and even mid-level boards for example leave a lot to be desired when it came to their VRM configuration. MSI’s 970 Krait motherboard’s VRM for AMD FX is even more appalling, although their Intel boards are a lot better.

For $89.99, the Biostar B350GT3 is in line with the classic Biostar that I know. It’s not fancy outside of having RGB LEDs but it gets the job done. They already had three BIOS updates since launch and they have the most stable 3200MHz DDR4 performance I have on any B350 motherboard yet. That is something that I could not get stable on my Gigabyte and ASRock B350 motherboards. The VRM is not overkill, using SinoPower PowerPAK MOSFETs which are very common these days but it gets the job done for Ryzen.

The UEFI could use some more user-friendly tweaks however. Unlike other mainboards, the UEFI only allows setting voltages through offset and the auto rules are not particularly solid. Less experienced users might also find the offset-only and overclocking option nested inside the Pstate setting confusing. There is also no option for down clocking offset in the UEFI but there is one in the RacingGT software.

The VIVID LED DJ feature works great as well and is very responsive unlike other motherboard LED controls which can be slow and inaccurate. There is a UEFI option for color changing but it is very limited. Hopefully, Biostar updates their UEFI to match the software versatility.

The audio subsystem also showed satisfactory performance, although it could definitely be a lot better, especially when compared to what their competitors are offering in that area. There is an adjustable gain control for headphones however so that is a plus.

Overall, the Biostar B350GT3 is a solid “no frills” option with standard B350 chipset features. It handles CPU and memory overclocks well and is very stable despite not having a user-friendly UEFI layout for performance tuning. Best of all, it is only $84.99 which is at least $25 less than most other B350 motherboards.
