Network Layout

There were no adjustments to ASUS RT-AC1200GU Wireless Router to fine tune ultimate performance settings. All tests were done in the closed/dedicated environment. One CAT 6 cable was connected to the System I from the LAN port of ASUS RT-AC1200GU. Testing on System I was done with only 1 network card active; the Killer network card and the corresponding software were disabled for the testing. System II was used with ASUS PCE-AC68 WiFi Adapter. The purpose of using Systems I and II is to show the corresponding speeds between LAN and Wireless connections. Additional testing to the Internet were done from each of the connections from the router.

Software

All testing is done based off of System I and II and Internet.

To test ASUS RT-AC1200GU Performance between System I and II I have used NetStress toolkit. NetStress is a benchmarking tool which allows testing of upstream and downstream connections.

System I

LAN Transmitter

In this benchmark System I is set to operate in Upstream configuration. By pushing packets from System I to System II the average transfer speed was 93.33 Mbps (+/- 12.32Mbps).

LAN Receiver

In this benchmark System I was set in Downstream configurations. Here numbers were less impressive. Average transfer speeds from System II were 71.3 Mbps (+/- 27.37Mbps).

Speed test to the Internet (via cabled in connection)

System II

WiFi Transmitter (5GHz)

Out next set of benchmarks were to take a look at the Upload and Download speeds of WiFi connections(5GHz). The Upload from the System II was poor as well. We achieved average speeds of 50.01 Mbps (+/- 8.52Mbps).

WiFi Receiver (5GHz)

Receiving packets from System I was averaged around 88.91 Mbps (+/- 26.14Mbps).

Speed test to the Internet (via 5GHz Connection)

WiFi Transmitter (2.4GHz)

Transmitting packets from System II to System I over 2.4GHz averages 60.05 Mbps (+/- 3.26Mbps).

WiFi Receiver (2.4GHz)

Receiving packets from System I gave us a slight increase in averages, 68.14Mbps (+/-4.1Mbps).

Speed test to the Internet (via 2.4 Ghz Connection)

Note: I have attempted to connect to this router via AC protocol but was not successful. The router would not connect to my adapter at the 1.3Gbps speeds and would constantly drop the connection speeds.
