Antec Kuhler H20 620 CPU Water Cooler
Installation |
We first started our installation by attaching the fan and radiator to the inside of the case with the screw provided in the installation kit. Antec recommends using a pull fan system to keep the radiator cool in the instruction manual so we decided to keep with the proper instructions. I would like to note you do not have to install the factory Antec fan, if you want the fan can be replaced with any 120mm LED fan or any other 120mm fan of your choice. The water cooling tubes are very well connected on both ends with hidden clamps, we had no worries of leaks or of the connections being fragile while assembling the cooling system. Next we installed the backing plate and the metal inserts provided. Antec also includes to double sided sticky pads for the backing plate so that it doesn’t fall or slip out of place when installing the front plate, that was a great addition as I always drop the backing plate at least one time and have to fish it from in between the motherboard and case, so thank you Antec such a small thing goes a long way. Now time to tackle the front O-ring mounting plate and after a little matching and flipping of the clips we finally got it to line up and the screws went in like hot butter. You need to leave the 4 mounting screws pretty loose because the pump/CPU block actually need to slip under the O-ring clamp and then the screws tightens down on it securing it extremely well. Antec also provided thermal paste on the bottom of the block although there is no note as to what type it is. For the pump connector Antec provided two wires coming off of the pump/CPU block, one is the pump cable and it plugs into the motherboard with a standard 3 pin fan connector. The other wire coming from the pump/CPU block is for the 120mm fan to connect directly to if you wish to utilize theIntelligent noise / speed-control fan for quiet, efficient cooling. You do not have to use this fan connecter you can tuck it away but make sure the fan is plugged into the motherboard if you choose this path. The non-corrugated easy-bend rubber tubes made it very simple to install even with a processor that is only 5 to 6 inches away. Antec provided 13 inches of tubing for installation into even the biggest cases out there. Also I have to note that the inlet tubes on the pump/CPU block swivel left to right so even if you want to run the tubes differently you can. We were very pleased with the ease of the installation it was non intrusive to the other hardware int he computer and looks cool. It was fun and easy and at no time did we ever think the quality to ensure safe usage was an issue. You can tell Antec did their homework before releasing this line of all in one cooler, and at only 1.5lbs you wont even notice a difference in the weight of the case.
