ADATA Launches Premier SP580 SATA Solid State Drive
ADATA has added a new SSD to their premier line, adding to their stable of affordable SATA solid-state solutions such as the recently reviewed Premier SP550 which can be had for as little as $0.25 per Gigabyte. The new ADATA Premiere SP580 is available in 120GB and 240GB for now and similar to the Premiere SP550, uses TLC NAND flash but with a Marvell controller instead of a Silicon Motion SM2256 in the SP550. As the name implies, this product sits higher than the SP550 in the Premier SSD line stack, although current pricing information is not yet available as retail stores have not listed it yet.
As with other ADATA Premier SSDs, the SP580 comes in a 7mm thick form factor and is bundled with a 2.5mm spacer. The SP580 is also compatible with ADATA’s SSD Toolbox which allows for convenient health monitoring and other SSD related maintenance functions. An Acronis True image HD disk migration utility is also available for free download so users can upgrade from one drive to the new SP580 seamlessly.
