ADATA Launches M.2 Version of Premier SP550 SSD
ADATA has re-launched the very affordable Premier SP550 SSD in a new M.2 2280 form factor, providing users with more options for low-cost SSD storage. Pricing for the Premier SP550 M.2 2280 starts at only $45.99 for the 120GB version. The 240GB and 480GB versions are also available for $69.99 and $129.99 respectively. The 2.5″ version of the Premier SP550 SATA SSD was previously reviewed here at Modders-Inc, sporting a Silicon Motion SM2256 controller paired with 16nm TLC NAND. The Premier SP550 makes use of intelligent SLC caching algorithm, allowing the TLC NAND to operate in simulated single-level cell mode, boosting read/write performance. Compared to some low-cost TLC options, the Premier SP550 has a DRAM cache buffer for improved performance which can be as much as twice that of ones without.
Like all ADATA SSDs’ the compact SP550 M.2 2280 can be managed with the bundled ADATA Toolbox which allows for device health monitoring and management in a single desktop program. Full specifications are available below:
