At CES 2018, Cooler Master unveiled their new cases in the MasterBox lineup. The all new Cooler Master MasterBox Q300P features an acrylic side window, interrupted only by the side-mounted IO. The front panel shows off the Q300P’s pair of included 120mm RGB LED fans, which will also support a 240mm radiator. The top of the case supports an additional two 120mm fans but is much too close to the motherboard to support liquid cooling.
This Mini-Tower has some modular tricks, such as a movable Front-IO panel, and the ability to be used as a desktop instead of a vertical tower… a stance has long since forgotten by most case makers. Inside the case is room for a Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX motherboard, a standard ATX power supply in the bottom, two 2.5″ SSD mounts, and room for a single 3.5″ hard drive. The wide open chassis also allows graphics cards up to 360mm long.
The only major downside to this case is the use of acrylic. There is quite a bit of static charge to them, and they are an absolute dust magnet. And once dirty, they become difficult to clean without scratching the panels. It’s OK if you don’t mind a case with a little character, but not for those who have cleanliness high on their list of case requirements.
The most impressive feature in the newest MasterBox case has got to be its cable management. It seems every required cable was considered, and given a path with the proper amount of space. Even with minimal effort for this review, the cables were clean and tidy on the backside, and absolutely stunning around front with the motherboard. Between the ease of getting things looking sharp and the quality construction, there are going to be plenty of happy budget system builders when the Cooler Master MasterBox Q300P hits the market.
