NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready 378.66 WHQL Driver Update Released

NVIDIA has rolled out an update to their GeForce Game Ready drivers bringing it up to 378.66 WHQL and updates the gaming experience to Halo Wars 2, For Honor and Sniper Elite 4 to optimal levels. No SLI profiles have been added although 3D compatibility mode profiles for both Sniper Elite 4 and For Honor are listed as ‘Excellent’. The new release also introduces several bug fixes including the flickering problem in Battlefield 1 when using TAA on NVIDIA Kepler video cards as well as the shadow flickering bug in The Division when PCSS is enabled. Other bug fixes include:

  • [Surround]: Surround cannot be enabled on the XGPU.
  • [G-Sync]: With G-Sync and V-Sync both enabled, there is a long delay when switching a game from full-screen mode to windowed mode.
  • [Second Life 64-bit]: World view is tinted blue after disabling Advanced Lighting Model.
  • [The Division]: Shadows flicker after enabling PCSS.
  • [Kepler GPUs][Battlefield 1]: There is flickering in the game when using TAA.
  • [SLI][Surround][GeForce GTX 1080]: The system crashes when launching games in SLI Surround using HDMI 2.0 connections.
  • [GeForce GTX 1080][Heroes of Storm]: The game crashes when launched.
  • [GeForce 860M][Notebook]: Direct X games crash.
  • [Minecraft]: Java SE Binary crashes pointing to nvinitx.dll.
  • [GeForce GTX 980 Ti]: The driver is unable to detect multiple TV models.

Ubisoft’s For Honor launched on Valentine’s Day February 14 includes several NVIDIA-specific PC-exclusive features and effects optimized after the GeForce Game Ready 378.66 WHQL update. NVIDIA’s Ansel comprehensive screenshot capture program for example is compatible with the title, allowing users to take screenshots of map-wide battles, gruesome executions and panoramas of the medieval combat game.
