Biostar Unveils True Ambidextrous Racing GM5 Gaming Mouse

Biostar is adding a new gaming mouse to their racing peripheral family dubbed the Biostar Racing GM5. Like all other Biostar Racing products, the design uses a carbon fiber styled outer shell inspired by race cars.  Using a Pixart PMW 3330 optical sensor, the Biostar Racing GM5 supports on-the-fly DPI switching from 800 to 7200 DPI with a four-stage switching selection available. Users can also adjust it via the software.

It measures 125×67.2×37.5 mm (LxWxH) and weighs 130g. This was the official weight in the specification sheet which makes it heavier than most, unless Biostar included the cable weight. The cool thing about the Biostar Racing GM5 design is that it is truly ambidextrous meaning it has thumb buttons on both sides. For users who want fancy lighting, the Racing GM5 also delivers in that regard with RGB LED strip along the bottom edge, RGB LED logo and LED lit scroll-wheel.

Inside, 50M rated Omron switches are used for the main clickers for longer lifespan and higher quality compared to other switches. With the software, there are also 8 programmable buttons in total. I’m assuming the 9th button is non-programmable because the left click cannot be adjusted so users do not lock themselves out using the mouse again.

Other than the carbon fiber cover for aesthetic, the sides have built-in rubberized padding not just for comfort but for functional grip as well. The thumb buttons themselves are positioned closer to the top with a slight groove below it so the thumb has somewhere to grip.
