be quiet! Releases Pure Base 600 Mid-tower Case
Shortly after CES, be quiet! has announced a new mid-tower addition to their chassis line up and is the first of its kind under their Pure Base series. Unlike the Silent Base and the Dark Base series, the be quiet! Pure Base 600 is targeting mainstream users, delivering the signature be quiet! quality to a more affordable price point. The Pure Base 600 measures 470 x 492 x 220mm and can fit standard ATX motherboards. It features re-configurable drive bays to provide adjustable clearance for front mounted CPU coolers such as be quiet!’s own Silent Loop series. This includes the ability to remove the HDD and ODD cage entirely to make room for up to a 360mm radiator in front.
Bundled with the case are two Pure Wings 2 case fans, one positioned at the front for intake and one at the rear for exhaust and can be controlled via a bundled 3-step fan controller. The front bezel features a simulated brushed aluminum look and two external 5.25″ drive bays. The top panel cover can also be removed for extra ventilation or kept in place for minimizing noise. With the top cover removed, users can install up to two 140mm fans or three 120mm fans at the ceiling. In terms of CPU cooler clearance, up to 165mm tall heatsinks are supported while graphics cards up to 280mm long can be installed if the HDD cage is on the way but has room for up to 425mm long cards when HDD slots are removed. Aside from the two 5.25″ and three 3.5″ drive bays, two additional 2.5″ devices can be installed behind the motherboard tray. Each 3.5″ HDD slot itself can house a pair of 2.5″ drives each so technically, users can mount up to eight 2.5″ devices at the same time in total.
To further live up to the be quiet! name, the Pure Base 600 also has noise dampened side panels for whisper quiet operation in conjunction with the bundled Pure Wings 2 fans. It comes with a 3-year manufacturer warranty and will hit the retail market with an MSRP of €89.00 / $89.90 / £74.99, available in either all-black or with silver trim on the front.
