Most of us know Cooler Master for their innovative computer chassis that have been making their mark in the industry for years. Cooler Master has also been offering innovative, stylish, and effective CPU coolers over the years. Having played with various types and designs, Cooler Master sent us one of their Hyper N520 budget coolers to take a look at.
Now just because a cooler is slipped into the “Budget” category doesn’t mean it’s going to be a turd when it comes to performing. There are many great budget coolers on the market, one just has to remember that it’s not meant to be the “Best”. The Hyper N520 comes packed in the standard White / Purple retail box that a lot of Cooler Master products use. On the front we have one high resolution image showing a 3/4 view of the cooler. On the rear of the package we will find the highlighted features and specifications on the cooler it contains.
Upon removing the contents you will find the cooler neatly sandwiched in an inner layer of cardboard to keep the cooler stationary. The accessories and manuals are neatly packed inside this as well. This is one of the more common ways of packaging a cooler, which provides adequate protection to the cooler during shipment.
Included with the cooler in the box is the accessories bag which contains all the mounting hardware you will be needing for your specific installation, the Installation Guide, the Warranty Information, and the Users Manual.
Here we have our first glance at the Cooler Master Hyper N520 CPU Cooler. The N520 comes in at 115 x 62.3 x 141 mm, which is slightly bigger than most 92mm coolers. Looking from this angle we can see that the fans are offset from each other a little bit. The right fan is installed as a “Pusher” while the left fan is installed as a “Puller”. Will the offset affect the cooling potential of the fans? It shouldn’t, but we will have to see. Although this is not the first dual fan we have seen, it’s design is still unique, and one of the few that utilizes the dual 92mm fans rather than 120mm fans. Having an overall weight of 1.52 lbs, it’s got a very solid feel to it.
