Biostar Adds B150S5 to Hi-Fi Motherboard Lineup
Although Biostar lately has been focused on their high-end “Racing” series motherboards but they have not forgotten about their Hi-Fi line which now gets an additional option in the form of the micro-ATX B150S5. Obvious from the name, the B150S5 uses Intel’s B150 chipset and supports the latest 6th gen Intel Core processors. The Hi-Fi series is focused on delivering products that have better audio performance compared to a typical motherboard but with the B150S5, Biostar also adds a multi-channel calibration software for more audio control. The Hi-Fi audio hardware itself on the motherboard is Realtek ALC-887 based with ground isolation circuitry, audio capacitors and a headphone amplifier.

The B150 chipset itself is limited to 16 PCI-E 3.0 lanes dedicated to graphics, but it has eight PCI-E 3.0 lanes via PCH which on the B150S5 is configured as a PCI-E x16 slot at x4, two PCi-E x1, and shared with an M.2 slot. Like the audio, the Gigabit LAN controller is also Realtek (RTL8111H).
