ZOTAC Enters PCI-E NVMe Arena with New SONIX SSD
ZOTAC had plenty to show on display at CES earlier this year but tucked inside one of the custom cases was their latest and fastest storage solution on hand. While details were not fully available yet at that time, ZOTAC has now announced details about the PCI-E SSD solution including a name: SONIX. The Zotac SONIX is a four-lane PCI-E 3.0 SSD drive supporting NVMe 1.2. Users now have another option besides Intel and Samsung.
Inside are Toshiba MLC NAND and 512MB of DDR3 RAM cache, with 480GB capacity. Sequential speeds are announced at 2600 MB/s for the read and 1300 MB/s for the write, which is notably faster compared to Intel’s 750 series which clocks in at 2200/900 for the read/write. Pricing and availability is not yet announced.
