Patriot Memory @ CES 2016: Gaming and Storage
Patriot provides storage and memory solutions for both mobile and desktop platforms but have branched out to providing gaming peripherals under their Viper brand in Q4 2015. They are starting 2016 strong showcasing several new drives, DDR4 kits and gaming gear from their suite at CES 2016.
As part of Patriot’s Viper gaming line, they have released the V360 headset and V560 mouse but will soon be introducing the V760 mechanical keyboard. The V760 uses Kailh mechanical switches with full RGB backlighting. Patriot also displayed some mice prototypes which they are planning for 2016 including an MMO-oriented mice with plenty of side-buttons.
Patriot has also introduced the latest generation 4 from their Gauntlet line featuring USB 3.1 Gen. 2 aluminum unibody enclosure. The Gauntlet 4 is expected to carry a $39.99 MSRP. Patriot also announced the Viper USB and MEGA USB thumb drives. The Viper USB is a mainstream thumb drive with capacities ranging from 64GB through 256GB with a price tag starting at $349.99 and will have USB 3.1 connectivity as well. For those looking for larger capacity and faster thumb drives, the MEGA USB features up to 512GB of storage with 380MB/s read and 70MB/s writes and is a USB 3.1 drive as well. Pricing starts at $44.99 for the 128GB model but the 512GB unit will have a $229.99 MSRP.
While Patriot has their line of Pyro, Blaze and Blast SATA SSDs they also have the new Hellfire m.2 PCI-E Gen 3 x4 SSD with sequential read speeds of up to 2,500MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 600MB/s.
Patriot of course also displayed their current memory lineup consisting of their signature line (which still offers DDR2 sticks) as well as their Viper 3 (DDR3), Viper 4 (DDR4) and Viper Elite DDR4 kits. The Viper Elite DDR4 features speeds up to 3200MHz and has tighter timings than their Viper 4 DDR4 kits.
