DirectX 12 Tech Demo From Square Enix
Square Enix is a Japanese video game developer, publisher, and distribution company that is best known for its role-playing video game franchises, which include the Final Fantasy. What this demo does is show how DirectX 12 is going to kick the gaming consoles graphics ass for the next several console generations. The computer they show in the video, which is running the demo, is a top of the line system with a quad video card setup, but would you expect them to use anything less? They want to show how much superior the PC graphics will be when DirectX 12 is release with Windows 10.
During the video the details about the demo are told to us, which was running in real-time. Each scene consisted of 63 million polygons per scene, which Steve Guggenheimer (the man talking in the video) said was 6-12 times the capacity of polygons in DirectX 11. The textures were displayed in an 8K x 8K resolution, and each strand of hair is an individually rendered polygon that was processed through 50 shaders for better detail and clarity.
Those of you that already have a 4K monitor and have run 4K content understand how much better it looks and are ready for the level of gaming. For those that do not have one or seen one in action, you better start looking now.
