Disassembly and Modding Options
OUTEMU Keys are removable with help of the key puller tool. What I found out while pulling these keys is that the OUTEMU are light and fragile so remove them with care as you might snap some of the mounting brackets.
The PCB board is green and very clean. There are no noticeable over-flux areas or areas with extra solder.
The microcontroller for this board was scuffed up and is impossible to make out the make and model.
To provide RGB functionality the board is equipped with full-color micro LEDs. These tiny LEDs are able to display up to 16 million colors.
There is one more LED that connects to the board that provides light to the logo on the top of the keyboard.
Media keys use microswitches and different micro LEDs. Volume control potentiometer has an aluminum wheel that has the same micro stages as most of the mice wheels you see on the market. The media buttons made from plastic but they have rubber coating for better grip.
Switches
Outemu in MK6 are Blue switches, they are equivalent to Cherry Blue switches. These types of switches have an average lifespan of 50 million strokes. Actuation Force needed to activate the switch is 50gf +/- 5gf. It is tough to measure gf (gram force) so to better understand how much force you need to activate switch we use Actuation Point. The Actuation Point of Outemu Blue switches is 2.0mm +/- 0.3mm.
Just like Cherry Switches Outemu comes in different flavors (types). Most common types of Outemu switches you might find on the market are Brown, Blue, Red, and Black. Brown switches are Tactile, Blue switches are Tactile and Clicky, Red and Black switches are Linear. Over the years we started to see other types of Outemu switches on the market in forms of an upgrade such as Silver and Light Purple (Linear and Tactile respectively). By having the ability to quickly switch over the keys MK6 Bullet Hunter and Outemu removable switch design is a perfect combination with future mods in mind.
In case you have an issue with any of the switches, 1St Player included five spare switches along with key and switch pullers.
