US Case Modding Championship at 2015 QuakeCon
For the fourth year Modders-Inc brings the thrilling world of computer case modding to the largest LAN in the United States. But this year will be something new and exciting as this will be the very first US Case Modding Championship to be held. High level mods will be all over the place for everyone to enjoy. The great part of this is that you get to see the case mods and the modders that created them in person. Also at QuakeCon NVIDIA and Modders-Inc will be doing something new to QuakeCon, which will be a live modding contest happening during the QuakeCon event. Get ready to have a great time seeing and talking with the people that make those crazy awesome case mods that you see on the internet.
How can I enter the contest at QuakeCon:
There are three separate divisions you can enter and compete in and they are…
Case Mod Classic: consists of any mod that is built from an existing bought retail PC Case.
Scratch-Build Mod: consists of any mod built from anything other than a PC Case.
id/Bethesda Themed Mod: consists of any mod (classic or scratch) themed about id Software/Bethesda or any their games.
Only one (1) entry per person or team. (You cannot be part of a team and have separate case mod entered).
Entrant(s) may enter only one division.
Entrant(s) must be the owner(s) of the case mod. Commissioned builds that you created does not make you the owner of the case mod.
Any past top three (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and CPU magazine “Mad Reader Mod”-winning case mods are not eligible to compete in any class.
Past winning Modders themselves are eligible to build or enter a new computer that meets the rules listed above in any class.
The contest is open to all QuakeCon BYOC attendees ages 18 & up.
**We reserve the right to modify the rules, dates, times, prizes, and sponsors at anytime due to any circumstances.**
Judging
Judging will be determined by Modders-Inc, CPU Magazine and any pre-selected guest judges. Participants in any of the class competitions are not eligible to be a judge. The scoring will be broken down into Five categories each based on a scale of 1 – 10; with 10 being the best.
Categories include:
Concept/Design (1-10) Does the Concept of the mod match the design. Example – The mod is suppose to be about Star Wars, but the finished case doesn’t look like anything from the moive.
Creativity/MODS (1-10) What ideas did you have about changing the way the case looks. What was changed and how much of it you did yourself (which will also increase your score).
Detail of Work (1-10) The finer details of the mods. The finished look of the case such as are the cables tied up, scratches, dents, and etc.
Overall Look (1-10) When you stand back and look at the case mods does it all look good? Example: The paint job is outstanding, but the inside is a mess.
Special Features (1-10) The WOW factor that will put your mod above the rest.
Final scores are determined by adding the score from each category together. The highest score will receive the grand prize and the second and third highest scores will receive runner-up prizes. In case of a tie the tying mods will be deliberated by the judges and a winner will be picked.
NOTE: Judging will end by 4pm on Saturday as we need to have 3 hours prior to the announcement of the winners to tally the scores and to contact the winners. Contest finalist will need to bring their case mods to the QuakeCon Final Show area Saturday to display their mods on stage for all to see! *Note* We will be trying something new this years as we will check out and judge the mods through-out the event.
If you are a modder and will be attending QuakeCon but not competing in the contest and you would like to be a guest judge. Please contact us at our Contact Page.
